Cold Weather Beauty Essentials

With the cold weather still lurking around, and your same old skin care routine, your skin is probably feeling the effects. Chapped lips, dry hands, and extra wrinkles when wearing makeup, it’s just a total nightmare! We know that it is so important to keep everything hydrated, but you likely have not changed your regimen to adapt to the cold winter days. At times it seems challenging and annoying to have to get a whole new set of products, when the ones we already have work decently, and the winter is almost over anyway.

I went a little crazy and had a ‘hydration haul’ a few weeks ago. My skin felt miserable, my makeup was not applying well and my hands were cracking more than ever. I bought everything that I believed would be hydrating and helpful. After a couple of weeks of trying the products out, I came up with a little list of products that worked the best for me .

These are products that I have found to help my skin.  As always test the products out before applying all over if you have sensitive skin.

Eyes

It is always important to make sure to get a good eye cream. Eye wrinkles seem especially prominent in the winter with the cold air and wind making them deeper by the day. You need something effective, yet light enough for your eyes. I picked up the Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream. It has a light, yet creamy feel to it. You only need a little bit of the product and it goes a long way. With the added benefit of Hyaluronic Acid, which is naturally found in skin and is able to retain moisture, it is no wonder why this made my list.

Face

Clinique has a whole Moisture Surge line, and I was attracted to the gel/serum fusion to try something new. I loved that it was water based, had hyaluronic acid and activated aloe water as well. It was light enough to not break me out, yet it was still very hydrating and leaves my skin smooth.  At night I wear it alone and in the day I wear it under my sunscreen.

Sunscreen

Sunscreen! It is such a vital part of your routine. Men, women and children alike. Olay is a great product to try because it has a great moisturizing quality to it with out agitating my sensitive skin. It is light enough to wear under makeup and does not have the sunblock smell to it. Oh and the coolest thing about it? The price is much more affordable than other comparable sunscreens.

Lips

I purchased the Nugg lip mask because it looked cute, and I have been pleasantly surprised by the results. When I feel like my lips need extra attention I slather it on before I go to bed. My lips feel smoother, more hydrated and plump in the morning.

Hands/Body

I was introduced to Weleda Skin Food by my sister this Christmas. High in vitamin C and sunflower oil, it is the perfect formula to smooth out all the rough patches on your body.
